April 2009

The Fantastic Magnifico, an ASC Heritage Award nominated independent short film by Director Sam Sharpe recently came through the Chicago HD pipeline. A multi-faceted post-production process was involved in bringing the varied sequences in the film together. Resident colorist Andrew Maxwell performed the color correction and online edit for the film, which involved not only grading of several live action DPX sequences transferred from 35mm, but also seamlessly merging them with an all-digital stop motion sequence that acts as an aerial centerpiece to this life-and-limb story of the World War I flying ace – The Fantastic Magnifico. The film was finished for mastering onto HDCAMSR at our facility and will be receiving a film out in the near future.
