HD and SD upconversion, crossconversion and downconversion services are overseen by a staff that knows what they are doing. Chicago HD's equipment handles almost every type of HD/SD conversion.
To extend our services in this area, our stand-alone, high-quality Teranex converter enables us to create perfectly re-scaled HD and SD images. To handle HDV, we employ a Miranda HDV encoder to convert 1080i HDV to uncompressed 1080i or cross-convert to 720p HD.
We provide solutions like these to keep our customer's video in the digital domain
100% of the time, avoiding a conversion to analog video unless the specifications of
the deliverable demand it.
Please refer to our HD Video FAQ for more information.
HD Video Downconversions
Downconversions are essentially standard definition dubs of HD sources with a choice of three different aspect ratios: letterbox, center‐cut or anamorphic. We can downconvert all of our supported HD formats to all of our supported SD formats.
SD Video Upconversions
High definition productions often require the inclusion of standard definition material because the footage is vital to telling the story. Chicago HD upconverts SD footage to HD so you can incorporate it in your high def master. Please refer to our list of supported formats.
HD Cross Conversions
We can cross convert between 720p and 1080i or clone from one HD format to
another.
Encoding
We can handle all your video encoding needs including H.264 QuickTime, HD or SD Windows Media, MPEG, video transport streams and other compressed formats.
